This is a short blogpost covering our trip from Annapolis to Galesville where the boat will be hauled out for annual maintenance. We left Annapolis Landing Marina a little before 9 AM and arrived in Galesville a little before 11 AM. There was a nice cool and light (but not enough to sail) breeze during the morning hours. We motored the entire 12-mile trip in a very leisurely manner. It was really nice being out on the water!
Every time I pass Thomas Point Light, I have to take a photograph. Today was no exception. |
Sporting our new canvas, we docked at Hartge Yacht Yard on Tenthouse Creek directly in front of the travel hoist. |
We stopped at Hartge Yacht Harbor (a different business than Hartge Yacht Yard) and signed some documents for our stay in their Guest Cottage next week and then we went out for a delicious lunch at Pirate's Cove.
During the afternoon, I relaxed onboard. Maggie drove to a family event about 2 hours north of Galesville and she will return tomorrow morning.

Two work boats at rest. |

A slippery bottom on a racing sailboat. |
Our day's heavy lifting began by moving personal things and food that we will need next week. Next, we moved our cats and all their paraphernalia to the cottage. Then we began to prepare our boat for the upcoming haulout by removing things that would be in the way of planned work or that might get damaged (like our new cockpit cushions).
Last, I removed the platform under the starboard settee and the starboard water tank. During the week I plan to put a hinged door in the platform (under which the water maker will be located) and to shorten the port tank and use it as a day tank for the water maker. (This will involve a lot of cutting and some plastic welding. More on this in our next blogpost.)
We had the starboard water tank removed and all our personal stuff (and more) moved off the boat by 3 PM. I drove the dinghy back to the cottage while Maggie drove our car back. I'm beat!
Thanks for following our blog!
