Winter Onboard in Annapolis

—Blogpost written by Bob

Friday, March 12

The overnight temperature remained warm from the previous day--it remained well above freezing last night (in the upper 40's). I had to turn down the oil-filled radiators to almost nothing.  The water temperature (40.3 degrees) was still too cool to use our reverse-cycle heat--I expect that it will take another couple weeks for the water temperature to increase enough to use it.

The day started out overcast with a 24% (I wonder why not an even 25%?) chance of rain during the day.  It really seems warm for this time of year...

After my radiation treatment at 11:40 AM, we went out for lunch at Chevy's along Route 2 South, our new favorite local Tex-Mex restaurant.  We celebrated another week of radiation treatments being completed--I'm one quarter of the way through!

----------

Despite being a work day, there were lots of tourists downtown today--the nice weather seems to bring them out in droves.

----------

Near the end of the day I checked up on a boat door being sent to another C&C boat owner in Ohio--it was being packaged at the nearby UPS store.  By shaving 1-1/2" off the end of the packaging, the shipping cost was reduced by $100!  It was shipped out on Friday evening.

Another beautiful day was already underway as we rolled out of the v-berth in the morning.  We only used one oil-filled radiator last night and we slept like babies. The high temperature for the day was expected to reach only 50 degrees F.

Yesterday I started reading a book about the history of Mexico and I also purchased James Michener's Mexico as a kindle edition. It will be some time before I finish these two books.

I napped quite a lot in the afternoon.  Fatigue is one of the side effects of my radiation treatments and, as expected, it hit me harder after two weeks of treatments.

We turned our clocks forward ("spring forward") tonight on account of daylight saving time starting tomorrow. We have exactly two weeks remaining in our Annapolis winter slip before we move our boat to Castle Harbor Marina on Kent Island.

The outside temperature was in the mid to upper 40's when we woke up, headed for an afternoon high of 58 degrees!  The sun was shining brightly and the revving of engines in the nearby parking lot provided us an audio notice that our local car enthusiasts were nearby for their informal Sunday morning car show.

Maggie walked the couple blocks to Starbuck's on Main Street to retrieve our breakfast sandwiches--we opted for a change of pace from cereal with fruit this morning. (I sometimes have instant cream of wheat or oatmeal for breakfast as a change of pace too.)

A sausage egg & cheese sandwich
from Starbuck's for breakfast.

Because of my frequent napping lately, my "to do" list has been growing considerably longer, or rather, it was not being shortened as it should have been.

----------

I spent a lot of the afternoon reading about the history of Mexico in Victor Alba's book, Mexico: A History.  I bought it as a kindle book on Amazon.

My current reading project.

The history of Mexico was filled with political turmoil from interior sources (various rebellions from Indian tribes) as well as outside sources (Spain, France, and even the United States).  I still have a lot more to read of this book.  I'll add more information when I finish reading the book.

Stay tuned for more of our life's adventures...thanks for following our blog!
