We Live in a Rainbow of Chaos

This is one of my photographs taken in Hartge Yacht Harbor in Galesville, Maryland where I keep Rainy Days. What attracted me to this image was the many colors, the multitude of different shapes, and the attempted organization in the dinghy rack (having numbered spaces).

Why the name Rainy Days?

There are multiple reasons for the name. First, in business, rainy days have always been lucky for me. Big orders always seemed to arrive miraculously on rainy days.

Second, it was a rainy day in November 1986 when I first saw the boat in a yacht broker's yard in Annapolis. It was love at first sight. I owned a Sabre 28 at the time and had been yearning for a larger boat, capable of longer passages.

Third, I have always liked the subdued mood of a rainy day--that care-free, stress-free feeling of, in particular, a warm rainy day. I believe everyone can relate to this melancholy feeling and draw the parallel to sailing. In fact, there has been many popular (and memorable) songs written about rainy days.
